According to TMZ (hmm, etc - Ed),
Ariana Grande has completed work on a new record and is planning to put it out during the summer months. The news follows a carousel of recent studio photos shared by Grande on Wednesday, which "sources" confirm are not from previous sessions.
The project would mark her eighth studio album and the follow-up to '
Eternal Sunshine', released in 2024 after a four-year gap between records. Ahead of her brief Eternal Sunshine Tour, which begins in Oakland on 6th June, her Brighter Days hotline recently updated with what appeared to be a playful nod towards new material: "Our staff here at brighter days are so looking forward to continuing our mission of bringing happiness and healing to as many as we can this summer in person. we're counting down the 8s — oops, i mean the days."
Speaking to Variety back in January, Grande addressed questions about whether fans could expect anything ahead of the tour dates. "Nothing is coming before May. I love [the fans] so much, but sometimes I want to ask, 'Do you think there's another version of me out there who had time to write an album?' Not yet — but soon enough," she said.
Much of Grande's recent schedule has been dedicated to the promotional cycle surrounding her roles in the two Wicked films, the first of which earned her an Oscar nomination. During press for the second instalment, she had spoken about stepping back from music for a sustained period. Beyond her musical output, Grande has several acting commitments lined up, including appearances in a season of American Horror Story, the Meet The Parents sequel Focker In-Law, and an animated Dr. Seuss adaptation titled Oh, The Places You'll Go!
