Charli xcx has hinted that work on her next album might just be complete, sharing a reflective studio update and a voice note to fans that suggests new music is on the way.
Posting to her ‘b.sides’ Instagram account this afternoon (Wednesday, 15th April), Charli looked back on a recording trip to Paris, writing: “me alex [A. G. Cook] and finn [Finn Keane, FKA Easyfun] in paris @ rue boyer last year. spent 10 days recording here. aidan and alaska came. alex dj’d the mcqueen show. played some songs for some friends at the studio. went to the cinema. had lots of steak frites. felt really inspired.”
Around the same time, she sent a WhatsApp voice note to fans, saying: “Hi everyone, I missed you all and I've been feeling so inspired. I've been making things and I can't wait to share them with you. So I will see you soon, angels.”
The update follows a prolific period for Charli. Her 2024 album ‘Brat’ became a cultural flashpoint, she released 'Wuthering Heights', the soundtrack for Emerald Fennel's feature film starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, earlier this year, and she also featured in A24's 'The Moment', an original idea by Charli and directed by Aidan Zamiri.
