easyclear has released his debut EP ‘Green’, led by new single ‘The Pigeon’.
The London-based solo project of Luke Deacon, the EP was produced by Alex O’Donovan (Sea Girls, Kelly Lee Owens, Boston Manor) at Strongroom Studios.
“The worldbuilding is one of my favourite thing we achieved with ‘Green’,” Deacon explains. “The process involved being very sensitive to the naked tunes I had written – finding ways for modern technology to inhabit and develop the songs in a manner that felt either harmonious, or excitingly discordant.”
“I came to see some of the sounds we generated as cartoonish characters – a ghostly cat solo at the end of ‘The Pigeon’, or the sweet birds on ‘Interlude’. This use of the machine to create expressive and alive-feeling characters brought me a lot of joy. For me it lends the songs a distinct, gentle, haunting quality.”
Prior to launching easyclear, Deacon performed with Young Khan (a precursor to Sea Girls) and classic-pop group Kid Jupiter.
