Grimes may move to doing more ‘behind-the-scenes work’

“Honestly, I don’t feel very confident in myself as a singer,” she tells V Magazine.

Artists: Grimes
Grimes may be planning a step away from being a front person in the future, according to a new cover story for V Magazine.

Claire Boucher (for it is she, etc etc – Ed) has been basically a one woman create tour de force since exploding onto the scene. Writing, producing and singing pretty much everything, she’s also marked herself out as an artist at the very top of her, or any other, scene. But that doesn’t mean she’s comfortable with the limelight.

“Honestly, I don’t feel very confident in myself as a singer,” she tells V Magazine. “As I get older, I’m probably going to try to be more involved in the behind-the-scenes work, and less involved in being the front person.”

“I think where my pride in my work lies is in my production, editing, and directing,” she explains. “I’m not a trained musician; this is something that happened almost randomly. I’d rather be compared to my peers who are producers — I think that’s a world where I’m capable at achieving at a higher level.”

If Grimes think she has higher levels to reach, someone pray for everyone else, eh?
