Sunflower Bean’s Julia Cumming has unveiled ‘Please Let Me Remember This’ from her debut solo album

Sunflower Bean frontwoman Julia Cumming has unveiled 'Please Let Me Remember This', taken from her forthcoming debut solo album 'Julia', which arrives on 24th April through Partisan Records.

The single explores why painful memories tend to persist while joyful ones slip away, with Cumming pointing to The Beach Boys as a key inspiration behind the track, noting that 'Busy Doing Nothing' from their 1968 record 'Friends' shaped its approach to observing small, mundane details.

Speaking about the song, Cumming said: "It started with two questions: Why are our sad and painful moments easier to remember than our happy ones? And why can't we choose what we let go of, or what we get to keep? There's a surrender that comes with memory, and it's always fascinated me. I wanted to create a song using these little vignettes to explore the lack of control we have over what we remember. I wanted to capture the desperation that comes with trying to turn an immaterial experience into something that could be held onto."

The single is the second offering from the record, following last month's 'My Life', which Cumming recently performed during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
