Kaeto has shared new single 'Distance' from upcoming debut mixtape 'Intro'
KAETO has released a new song titled 'DISTANCE' along with an accompanying video.

The track is from the London-based musician's forthcoming debut mixtape 'INTRO', set for release on 20th September via Polydor Records, which will be followed by a support tour with The Last Dinner Party.

Speaking about 'DISTANCE', KAETO says: "When I was writing this song I felt so lost and unloved. I was having so many unsuccessful and fleeting exchanges and I was attracting the wrong type of person into my life. Most commonly I would know that the person did not want me sincerely and yet I would struggle to shake a compulsion to change myself into a shape that might change their mind, misplacing a lot of love for myself in the process. The challenge that this lack of reciprocity creates has an addictive quality that I found wasn't good for my soul. So with this song I am trying to explore my own relationship with those bread crumbs of love and affection that steered my sense of self- worth so off road. Where I have landed: someone's feelings are entirely separate from you, and you aren't the reason someone loves or doesn't love. We are all just humans and sometimes things don't work."

The video for 'DISTANCE' was created by KAETO and friends Maisy Banks, Reuben Davies Lindley, Dan Breuer and Jacob Ray. KAETO explains, "I think up all video ideas during the writing process of the music so it is so amazing to see it come to life months later. I had really wanted the camera to feel like the eyes of the person/connection that the song was about and I had mapped out this sequence of four shots. I love the bus whizzing past during the shot in the back of the car. We really could never have planned that if we had tried. My face is wet with tears in that shot not from my hair and makeup props or my own performing ability but because everyone in the car was making me cry with laughter - it was a miracle we got the shot without me corpsing."
