La Dispute are set to release their first new album in six years, 'No One Was Driving the Car', via Epitaph. The band have also shared three new tracks: 'I Shaved My Head', 'Man with Hands and Ankles Bound', and 'Autofiction Detail'.

The new album explores themes of technological advancement and societal malaise, drawing inspiration from Paul Schrader's film 'First Reformed'. The album's title stems from a news article about a fatal Tesla self-driving car incident, which vocalist Jordan Dreyer encountered.

The album's opening trio of tracks chronicles a character's descent into dissociation. 'I Shaved My Head' opens with minimal instrumentation, featuring Dreyer's distinctive vocals accompanied by bass drum, before expanding into a full band arrangement. The track's lyrics detail a personal transformation: "First I thought you were scared that I could never grow it back again/ Now I see at least six months passed since you recognized me."

The fourteen-track album includes songs such as 'Environmental Catastrophe Film', 'Self-Portrait Backwards', 'The Field', and the title track 'No One Was Driving the Car'.
