Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' has become the first song to top the UK Christmas charts twice consecutively
Wham! have made history as 'Last Christmas' has topped the UK charts for a second consecutive Christmas, becoming the first song ever to achieve back-to-back Christmas Number 1s in the UK.

The festive track has seen unprecedented global success this year, reaching its highest-ever Billboard position at Number 2 in Canada, where it has been certified Diamond, and Number 2 in the US.

The single has also claimed the top spot across Europe, reaching Number 1 in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden - marking its first-ever chart-topping position in the Netherlands and maintaining a four-week run at Number 1 in Sweden.

To mark the track's 40th anniversary, a commemorative EP has been released across multiple formats, including limited edition vinyl, CD and digital. The collection features the original 7" and 12" versions of the track, alongside a previously unreleased live performance from George Michael at London's Wembley Arena in 2006.

The seven-time platinum single, originally released in December 1984, stands as the fourth highest-selling single in UK history, having claimed the Number 1 spot nine times.

A new documentary, 'Wham!: Last Christmas Unwrapped', exploring the story behind the seasonal classic, is now available on BBC iPlayer.
