Love Spells has shared ‘Crutch’, a song about knowing something’s bad for you
The Houston-born singer has shared a dance studio video for the sultry new track.

Sir Taegan Harris, known to listeners as Love Spells, has put out a new song titled 'Crutch'.
Directed by Alex Lockett, the visual that accompanies the song captures choreography filmed inside a New York City dance studio. The track itself first surfaced earlier this year on Geezer Radio, the Apple Music show hosted by Kevin Abstract and Dominic Fike.
On the meaning behind the release, the singer says: "'Crutch' is about knowing something is bad for you, but continuing on with it anyway. The push and pull of someone who loves you but can't admit it - they stick around for that feeling of love without ever having to be responsible for yours. They use you as a crutch, and honestly, you use them as one too."
The 21-year-old, who hails from Houston, picked up the Love Spells name after friends ribbed him for falling in love often and romanticising the world around him. While experiencing homelessness at 18, he channelled that sentiment into songwriting, a path that eventually led to a phone call from Brockhampton's Kevin Abstract. Abstract invited him into a shared house with other creatives, where work began on the 2025 record 'Blush'.
Collaborations with Abstract, Dominic Fike and Deb Never followed, and his airy falsetto has since drawn admiration from the likes of Justin Bieber, Erykah Badu, Young Thug, Lorde, The Marías, RM of BTS and Suki Waterhouse.
To mark the new release, Love Spells will perform a sold-out show tonight at Permanent Records in Los Angeles. Festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop, All Points East and Rock en Seine are scheduled for later in the year.
