A former bingo hall in North Shields will host
Mike D's first ever UK performance, with the
Beastie Boys co-founder confirming a 3rd June date at
King Street Social Club, just outside Newcastle.
The booking forms part of a wider European run and coincides with fresh material from the artist, whose new single 'What We Got' has just landed. It follows his debut solo offering '
Switch Up', which arrived as his return to releasing music after a 15-year gap.
'What We Got' emerged from a string of experimental studio sessions involving Mike alongside his sons Davis and Skyler, with contributions from Jason Lader, Benjamin Pacheco, Kevin Rhomberg, Carter Lang and Tyran Donaldson. Production duties were handled by Carter Lang and Tyran Donaldson, while Derek Ali mixed the track at No Name Studios.
Across the Atlantic, two sold-out dates at Brooklyn's Xanadu Roller Arts are lined up for 22nd and 23rd May. Earlier live appearances have favoured unconventional spaces, taking in Plaza Nightclub & Dance Hall in Los Angeles, Brothers Marshall Surf Shop in Malibu, The Ojai Valley Women's Club and Sid the Cat Auditorium in South Pasadena, CA.
