The Moonlandingz have released a new single featuring Iggy Pop

The Moonlandingz unveil their latest single featuring Iggy Pop, a track written 15 years ago following the songwriter’s bike accident.

The Moonlandingz have shared new single ‘It’s Where I’m From’, featuring Iggy Pop, ahead of ‘No Rocket Required’.

The track arrives as the final preview of the band’s second album, which follows their 2017 debut ‘Interplanetary Class Classics’. The new record sees the trio of Adrian Flanagan, Dean Honer and Lias Saoudi collaborate with guest vocalists including Nadine Shah, Jessica Winter and Trainspotting actor Ewen Bremner.

‘It’s Where I’m From’ has a particularly notable origin story, having been written by Flanagan 15 years ago following a serious bike accident. “I think I hit some kind of sweet spot between Johnny Cash doing ‘Hurt’ and something off Scott Walkers ‘Scott 2’ album, the track grounds you!” Flanagan says. “I got busy with other projects and the track ended up dumped in a box at the back of a cupboard for well over a decade.”

“My absolute first choice to sing my song was Iggy Pop,” he continues. “No sweaty young upstart could sing this song and make you believe it. It had to be sung by someone who’d lived a thousand lives, who understood about mortality, loss – whose very throat exudes wisdom. As if by some kind of psychic magic Iggy said yes!”

The accompanying video was directed by Jeanie Crystal, who describes it as “the finale of a three piece sequence about male vulnerability, sexuality, insecurities and ego and the absurd complexities of trying to understand the label of man.”

‘No Rocket Required’ features ten tracks, including previously released singles ‘The Sign of A Man’ and ‘Roustabout’.
