Vermont singer-songwriter
Noah Kahan has shared his fourth studio album. Titled '
The Great Divide', the 17-track record arrives via Mercury Records and follows 2022's '
Stick Season'.
Aaron Dessner and Gabe Simon handled production duties on the album, which was put together across multiple locations including Dessner's Long Pond Studio in New York, Guilford Sound in Vermont, and both Fire Tower Farm and Gold Pacific Studios near Nashville. 'The Great Divide' and '
Porch Light' were both previously issued as singles ahead of the full record.
Speaking about the making of the album, Kahan said: "It is hard to even begin to describe what these last few years making this album has felt like. The collision of fear and pressure and joy and luck and total love has left me wordless. I spent many months walking forward in complete darkness, hands out in front of me, desperate to touch something familiar that would show me I was near the light switch again. I was never really alone. I don't think any of us ever truly are. I was guided through the wilderness by calm voices, by the stillness of my home state, by the total commitment of my band, producers, and team, by the steady and loving touch of my wife and family, and of course, by the constant and enduring encouragement of my fans. I am very proud of what we are doing together, and I hope we can live this dream for a long long time."
To mark the album's arrival, Kahan appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and performed an NPR Tiny Desk session featuring '
American Cars', 'The Great Divide', '
Paid Time Off', and 'Stick Season' favourite '
Orange Juice'. He has also been included on the TIME100: Most Influential People of 2026 list. Writing in tribute at the TIME100 Gala, Marcus Mumford said: "Musically, he brings us closer to our humanity in the same way some of the great '60s folk songwriters did: pairing lyrics set in a particular space and time with traditionally infused pop melodies like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell at their best. Noah paints scenes of his own experience that resonate broadly. We can access the universality of our feelings through the individuality of his storytelling."
A return to Saturday Night Live is scheduled for 9th May, with Matt Damon hosting. Meanwhile, his Netflix documentary Noah Kahan: Out of Body launched globally last week after picking up the 24 Beats Per Second Audience Award at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival.

A worldwide tour in support of the record begins this summer, with the sold-out North American stadium leg running through June, July, and August before dates across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, and Europe follow in the autumn.
