Sam Fender has teamed up with Adolescence star Owen Cooper for his ‘Little Bit Closer’ video

Sam Fender releases Lake District-filmed music video for ‘Little Bit Closer’, featuring Adolescence star Owen Cooper and directed by Philip Barantini.

Sam Fender has cancelled his remaining 2024 tour dates due to a vocal cord injury

Sam Fender has unveiled a new video for his single ‘Little Bit Closer’, reuniting with Adolescence director Philip Barantini and the Netflix drama’s star Owen Cooper.

The video, filmed in the Lake District, follows Cooper and a group of friends on a camping expedition, exploring themes of faith through Cooper’s character. The piece was shot on location in the north-west of England.

“It’s so great to be working with Phil [Barantini] again, I had no doubt he was the right director for this piece, his video for ‘Spit of You’ was my favourite,” Fender says. “Phil called to say he’d asked Owen if he’d like to be in the video, and that Owen was keen. I was elated that he could do it after seeing his incredible performance in Adolescence. Alongside Semera Khan [Creative Director] and the rest of the cast and team, they have created something beautiful.”

Barantini shares his enthusiasm for the project, saying: “To have the opportunity to direct another video for Sam was an immediate yes – an absolute no-brainer for me! Not only is Sam an incredible artist but he’s a beautiful human and a great friend! Also, the opportunity to direct Owen again so soon after Adolescence was an absolute joy!”

The collaboration marks Fender’s second time working with Barantini, following their 2021 video for ‘Spit of You’, which featured Adolescence star Stephen Graham.
