Record Store Day UK announces Sam Fender as 2025 ambassador
More than 270 independent shops will participate in the annual celebration with Fender's limited edition twelve-inch vinyl EP

Sam Fender has been announced as the official ambassador for Record Store Day UK 2025, with plans to release a special six-track vinyl EP to mark the occasion.
The North Shields singer-songwriter will represent the event's 18th edition, which takes place on 12th April across more than 270 independent record shops in the UK. Fender follows previous ambassadors including Taylor Swift, Kate Bush, The 1975, Noel Gallagher and Elton John.
"It's a complete honour to be asked to be the Ambassador for Record Store Day 2025," Fender says. "The importance of indie stores cannot be understated. Without them, we lose physical spaces for music fans to discover both their favourite new artists and to forge friendships with like-minded people."
The 'Me And The Dog EP', set for release on 12-inch vinyl exclusively through participating stores, features two previously unreleased tracks - 'I'm Always On Stage' and 'Empty Spaces'. "The EP we're releasing for Record Store Day is called 'Me And The Dog EP', which at one point was going to be the name of the new album, so it just feels right that it should have its own moment," Fender explains.
Alan Jordan, owner of Reflex Records in Newcastle, shares his enthusiasm for the appointment: "We're absolutely buzzing to have Sam Fender as this year's ambassador for Record Store Day. Sam's a local legend, and the way he's championed the Northeast and stayed true to his roots is exactly what independent record stores are all about – community, authenticity, and passion for music."
The EP's tracklist includes:
Side A
'People Watching'
'Tyrants'
'Empty Spaces'
Side B
'I'm Always On Stage'
'Me And The Dog'
'People Watching' - Live at The O2 Arena, London
