The Dinner Party have changed their name - they're now The Last Dinner Party, and promise "more news" very soon
They want to "avoid any future confusion'.
It's not often a band gets buzzy new music press before they've even released a debut single. It's even less common that, after that initial burst of attention, they change their name before getting round to delivering that first recorded taster. And yet here we are. 2023 Hype List stars The Dinner Party are no more. They've gained a word. They're now The Last Dinner Party.
Posting about the news on Instagram, they explain: "Gentle readers, we come before you today to announce the changing of our name to THE LAST DINNER PARTY
"This has come about in order to avoid any future confusion with our new friend Kamasi Washington’s project called ‘Dinner Party’ across the pond. So please hold the gushing letters and phone calls of congratulations for landing a Coachella spot because it‘s not us…not yet… Expect more news from us very soon."
Presumably that means that debut single isn't far away at all. We promise you, it'll be worth the wait.
