Romy, one-third of The xx, made a stunning appearance in BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge yesterday (January 17th), performing a two-track solo session, beginning with her Fred Again.. collaboration '
Strong'.
She then put her own unique spin on
Stormzy's single '
FIREBABE' from his third studio album '
This Is What I Mean', a track which Romy holds in high regard. "I love hearing people do a different take on a classic or current pop hit," she said. "You always hear people do stuff that you might not expect." She went on to add: "I really love that Stormzy song, and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. And he’s such a lovely guy."
Romy's mashup of 'FIREBABE' and
Harry Styles' '
As It Was' also featured parts of Alice Deejay's 1999 hit 'Better Off Alone'. You can watch the Live Lounge performances below.
