The Wombats have dropped a video for their track 'I Love America and She Hates Me', starring viral Cyr wheeler Hauke Narten

The Wombats have released their sixth studio album 'Oh! The Ocean' via AWAL Recordings, alongside a new music video for their track 'I Love America and She Hates Me'.

The video, directed by Logan Fields, features viral Cyr wheeler Hauke Narten. "When Murph first sent me a clip of Hauke's cyr wheel routine we knew this was the video," Fields explains. "We flew him out from Germany to perform in the video as he captured the ideas of the song so perfectly. It's really about taking control of your life and attempting to escape external worldly pressures through passion and self-expression."

The album was recorded in Echo Park, LA, during six weeks of sessions with producer John Congleton, known for his work with St Vincent, Wallows, and Death Cab for Cutie. The title was inspired by a significant moment during frontman Murph's family holiday.

"I've been to many beaches and seas and coasts over the years but for some reason it felt like the first time I had ever seen it and was truly present," Murph says. "There was this revelation that I had been living a life caught up in my own head, or in some kind of racing helmet or with blinkers on. It was really a potent experience. I felt like I saw everything new for the first time, and was aware that I had been so selfish to not take in how crazy the world and life is. I'd been caught up in my own BS for way too long."

The album features twelve tracks, including 'Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want To Come', which has secured a place on Radio 1's playlist.
