His second album, My Way (1997), included his first US Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, "Nice & Slow," and the top-two singles "My Way" and "You Make Me Wanna...". His third album, 8701 (2001), sold eight million copies and produced the US number-one singles "U Remind Me" and "U Got It Bad". His fourth album, Confessions (2004), is the best-selling album by a Black artist of the 21st century and received a diamond certification from the RIAA. It featured four consecutive US number-one singles: "Yeah!", "Burn", "Confessions Part II", and "My Boo". After ending his management and personal relationship with his mother, Jonnetta Patton, in 2007, Usher released Here I Stand (2008), which included the number-one single "Love in This Club".
