About This Track
'Hold On' is the tenth track on Adele's fourth studio album, '30'. Written by Adele with producer Inflo, the song emerged from recording sessions that began with extended conversations before the pair identified an emotion to pursue. Both raised in North London and of similar age, the collaboration yielded three tracks for the album. The lyric adopts the voice of someone in crisis, exhausted by self-sabotage and the feeling of regression despite effort. Adele frames the internal battle plainly: the harder the attempt, the worse the slide. The chorus offers a fragile instruction to wait, to let time and pain do their work, whilst the bridge acknowledges loneliness and emptiness as forms of rest, forgiveness as something practised in private. The song builds its reassurance not from triumph but from the act of holding still.
