About This Track

The closing track from Adele's fourth studio album '30', released in 2021, 'Love Is A Game' was co-written with producer Inflo. The song finds Adele reckoning with her own patterns in relationships, the lyric built around the refrain that positions romantic love as a contest she refuses to enter again. She adopts a posture of hard-won self-awareness, acknowledging her incapacity for growth and the puzzle-like codes her heart speaks in. The verses catalogue self-inflicted pain and the lies she tells herself, whilst the bridge offers a flicker of resolution: the assertion that she can love again, that she loves herself now as she once loved another. The orchestration swells behind the admission, the song functioning as both farewell and tentative opening.
