About This Track
Banks portrays a woman trying to convince a reluctant partner that she can offer something better. The song moves between observation and plea: she sees him withering, hiding, afraid to commit, and she counters with the simple insistence that she can love him better than the person he's with. There's no elaborate metaphor here, just repetition and directness, the chorus built on a single comparative claim that hardens into mantra. The track's architecture is minimal. Peder Losnegård produced alongside Banks, who co-wrote it, and the production stays spare enough to let the vocal and the hook do the work. What could sound like pleading instead lands as a kind of cool certainty: the repeated "can, can, can" in the outro strips the sentiment down to its mechanical core, neither desperate nor triumphant, just persistent.
