About This Track

BE:FIRST's 'Blissful' is a hip-hop and dance-pop hybrid built on the principle that life is a playground. The septet moves between Japanese and English, cycling through verses that treat hardship as something to be played through rather than endured. There's a childlike defiance in the logic: if you have your crew and a reason to smile, the world becomes yours to inhabit. The production, courtesy of SKY-HI and ZEN, draws from mid-2010s hip-hop sensibilities, all bright surfaces and propulsive rhythm. The chorus lands on a simple mantra: "I-I-I feel so blissful", repeated until it becomes less affirmation than incantation. It's the sound of a band choosing joy as a deliberate act, not an accident of circumstance.
