The lead single from 'MAP OF THE SOUL : 7', 'ON' arrives with a UCLA marching band drumline and a defiant lyric about endurance. RM described the track to Apple Music as a diary of the past seven years, a shrunken version of BTS's identity that captures how the group could stumble from time to time but get back up. The song turns inward to acknowledge the shadow within, part of the album's candid exploration of the self beyond the persona displayed to the world. BTS toggle between Korean and English across a lyric that frames hardship as fuel. 'Bring the pain,' they chant over martial percussion, the rain pouring and the sky falling every day. The group insist they are fighters, willing to bleed with whatever finds them in the dark abyss. An alternate version features Sia in a supporting role similar to Halsey's appearance on 'Boy With Luv', though the original stands as the album's centrepiece, all forward motion and refusal to stay down.
"ON" is a track by BTS, from the album MAP OF THE SOUL : 7, released 21st February 2020. The track is 4:06 long. It's filed under K-Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about BTS.
