About This Track

‘Solar System’ by Cavetown is a 2014 track from the album ‘Gd vibes’. The lyrics drift between passing days and sudden perspective, with images of nature in decline and the sun breaking apart. There is a longing to turn back time, framed by wonder at the solar system as a mystery, alongside the feeling that “all we feel is misery”. The overall tone is restless and melancholy, like someone trying to make sense of change by reimagining the moment before it fell apart.

"Solar System" is a track by Cavetown, from the album Gd vibes, released 16th November 2014. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Cavetown.

Lyrics

Solar System

[Verse 1]

Another day's come 'round

And I never expected I would look at things the way that I do now

The leaves are on the ground

The sun has shattered into a million tiny pieces crawling all around

[Verse 2]

Let's turn back time

The solar system is a mystery, all we feel is misery

Wasting time

Watching the stars roll by

Or are they just my memories forming into constellations in the sky?

[Verse 3]

Jesus Christ

My hands are always tingling and the sunshine seems so far behind

Make up your mind

Just forget it all or fight for humankind?

Let's fight for humankind

[Verse 4]

Another day's come 'round

And I never expected I could love something the way that I do now

Just look around (Look around)

What more could someone want than what is here for me right now?
