Chic's 'Le Freak' is a funk-disco invitation to the dancefloor, built on a simple proposition: pressure and routine can be cured by rhythm and movement. Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers wrote and produced the track with economy; the hook repeats itself without apology, and the verses sketch out a world of nightclubs and collective release with the clarity of a postcard.
