'Infinite Source' arrives as a moment of crystalline beauty within 'Private Music', bright and glossy where much of the album dwells in shadow and reflection. The track captures something essential to Deftones' thirty-year arc: the ability to build transcendence from restraint, to let space and silence do as much work as noise. Here, that restraint pays off. The song moves through passages of ethereal pull, existential and unmoored, before settling into something that feels like a final reckoning. The lyrics speak to endings and endurance in equal measure, a last wave and bow delivered with the kind of grace that only comes from having covered this much ground. A Dork five-star record. 'Private Music' marks the summit of a band still commanding absolute control over their craft, and 'Infinite Source' is proof that even in their most delicate passages, Deftones sound colossal. The song refuses to choose between fragility and power; it holds both, and asks you to hold on as long as you can.
