Deftones is an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California, in 1988. The band was founded by frontman Chino Moreno, lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter, and drummer Abe Cunningham. Bassist Chi Cheng joined the group in 1990, followed by keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado in 1999. After establishing a stable lineup in 1994, Deftones signed with Maverick Records and released their debut album, Adrenaline, in 1995. The album's promotion through touring and word-of-mouth helped build a dedicated fan base. Their second album, Around the Fur, was released in 1997 and achieved platinum certification in the United States. The band’s third album, White Pony, came out in 2000 and represented a shift toward a more experimental sound; its track "Elite" won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. Their self-titled fourth album was released in 2003 and debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart. The fifth studio album, Saturday Night Wrist, was released in 2006 and was affected by creative tensions and personal issues within the band. In 2008, while working on an album tentatively titled Eros, bassist Chi Cheng was involved in a traffic collision.

More support acts have been confirmed for Deftones' headliner at Outbreak Fest at All Points East 2026, taking place at Victoria Park, London.
Tickets go on sale for the event starting Friday 14th November 2025.
They've appeared around East London.
Deftones will host their sixth annual festival at San Diego's Petco Park, featuring diverse acts including Clipse and Rico Nasty.
Deftones reveal new album 'private music' and single 'my mind is a mountain', alongside extensive tour dates through 2026.
The collaboration took place during the encore of Deftones' 20-song set.
The band are currently completing the first leg of their US tour.
GRAMMY Award-winning band Deftones will perform their first UK show since 2022 at Halifax's Piece Hall next June.
