The beginning was a bright blue flame

And I believed you when you told me

It would always be this way

But then the fire grew into a forest I could not contain

And I was to blame

The shadows that I cast are all of voodoo dolls you made of me

Out of matter, out of glass

I burned up slowly into ashes, then to dust

That collects on our old photographs

Back when I couldn't smell the gas
