‘Moon’ by Foals is an alternative track from the album ‘Holy Fire’, released in 2013. The lyrics paint a bleak, apocalyptic tableau, with trouble arriving ahead and “black dogs” running through the fields. There is a sense of catastrophic aftermath, as the world goes quiet and images, captions and death accumulate, while birds fall from the sky and the body turns against itself, with teeth giving way. The final impression is one of grim inevitability, as if the only remaining act is to acknowledge what is already coming.
