Sleep

'Sleep' by Garbage is a 1995 track from the album 'Garbage (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)'. In the middle of the night, the lyrics cast a wakeful, introspective spell, with a haunted, pillow-bound image of thinking in the dark and a sense that what was once given has gone up in smoke. There is a curious counterpoint, too, as even when someone feels misunderstood, the stars continue to sparkle and shine. The mood is restless and brittle, more dreamlike than settled, like trying to drift while the mind keeps circling the damage.
