About This Track

'Robert' by Jockstrap is an alternative track from the EP 'Wicked City - EP', released in 2020. The lyrics are a direct, flirtatious provocation to Robert, mixing desires for closeness and admiration with a more performative, street-level bravado. Lines point to wanting “Holding hands with God”, alongside talk of absence, returning, and being posted in the city. There is also an explicit rejection of online noise, with the singer insisting on their own focus and scene.

"Robert" is a single by Jockstrap, from the album Wicked City - EP, released 18th June 2020. The track is 3:30 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 12 articles about Jockstrap.

Lyrics

Robert

You're provoking me Robert
I want to be your play mate
I want my own portrait
Holding hands with God
And he can see through the art you make
I am really impressed

I've been gone all winter, yeah
Catch me all city, posted in that same- (yeah)
Y'all can keep the Twitter shit
We just on some different shit
Seventeen marathons
We-we-we-we-we-we shit
Bet you gon' remember this
When you go and tell your kids
That's the one that Dante and your
Why-why-why-why-why-why-why-why
They never really talk
But she see him between fourth and fifth
She had math next period
Wait, hold up, no, I'm serious
This the type of beat that make me drink a whole, nah
This the type of beat that make me plead the fifth
I might go risk it all
Pull up to the blacktop party wearing Vans, I'm off the wall
Burn the body with some gasoline just to top it off
Shit, you better watch yourself
Y'all is on a label now
All it means to me is all my clothes got different labels now
Problem solved so make it out
Got Apple money in my bank account
I heard that cash reveals the true you
Yeah well y'all can hate me now
Guerrilla war homosexual
Sex extolled the devil
Carcass of an angel
You're provoking me Robert
I want to, I want to
Be the bitch, be the masochist
Be a cool, extreme
Motherfucker
Motherfucker
