LANY - Mama's Boy
What was once promise and potential now packs substance far deeper than surface aesthetics.
About This Track
'Dumb Stuff' opens LANY's self-titled debut with the rush of early infatuation. The song finds the band doing what they do best: locating vulnerability in moments of shimmer and ease. Here, that vulnerability is the terror of new love, the late-night conversations that feel like the whole world, the need to be wanted back. LANY strip away pretence to sit with the raw emotional core of it all. The track builds with synth-led warmth and an immediacy that grabs on first listen. There's a cliche at work, dancing in the rain, the movie-like quality of it all, but LANY lean into it rather than away, which is precisely where their power lies. They find a unique way to transcribe love and longing in a manner that speaks to the emotional battles of the moment. A Dork four-star record.

Lyrics
Oh my god, I think I'm in love The way we stay up late and talk about dumb stuff And there is no one else, I would rather be with Please, promise you want me Oh my god, is my love too much? Come on take my hand baby Dance in this pouring rain Cause what we've got is like a movie And I'm not above a good cliche Oh my god, I think I'm in love The way we stay up late and talk about dumb stuff
