About This Track

'Goon' by Lowertown is an alternative track from the album 'I Love To Lie' (2022). The lyrics frame a relationship as a kind of consumer exchange, with the speaker trying to find the right version of distance and approval, only to watch their words turn sour. Under the white noise and into a void, they describe saying things that sink and being pulled further out of reach, leaving everything they are and do apparently falling short. The song’s refrain of self-doubt lands bluntly with the line “Everything I am seems to let you down”.

"Goon" is a track by Lowertown, from the album I Love To Lie, released 20th October 2022. The track is 3:52 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 8 articles about Lowertown.

Lyrics

Goon

I'm shopping for miles
Buying you a that doesn't shout
Toothy words leap from your lips that sink to the ground
Under the white noise, into a void
Where I'll never be found
Everything I say twists your grout face into a frown
Everything I am seems to let you down

I'm putting myself on display
Hoping someone will talk to me today
I'm putting myself on display
Hoping someone will talk me off this ledge
Show me the way
Show me the way
I'm on my knees
Please, please be kind to me
Show me what I need
Let me see
What I have to be
What I have to be
For them to accept me

When will the ringing in my ears
Ever stop putting on this stupid act, oh no
How much longer until it drops?
Under the white noise, into a void
Where I'll never be found
Everything I say twists your stupid face into a scowl
Every little part of me lets you down

I'm putting myself on display
Hoping someone will talk to me today
I'm putting myself on display
Hoping someone will talk me off this ledge
Show me the way
Show me the way
I'm on my knees
Please, please be kind to me
Show me what I need
Let me see
What I have to be
What I have to be
For them to accept me
Talk me off this ledge
Show me the way
Show me the way
I'm on my knees
Please, please be kind to me

Show me what I need
Let me see what I have to be
Be kind to me
Show me what I need
Let me see what I have to be
For them to want me
