Catherine Marks is an Australian producer and mixing engineer, and one of the most respected studio figures working in alternative rock. She has produced and mixed for boygenius, PJ Harvey, Manchester Orchestra, Rise Against, Alanis Morissette, Wolf Alice, The Wombats, The Amazons, Alex Lahey and The Mysterines, building a body of work defined by clarity, dynamics and a refusal to over-tidy a performance. She came up through the studio under Flood and Alan Moulder, an apprenticeship audible in her instinct for space and texture. Marks has twice been named Producer of the Year at the Music Producers Guild awards and has been central to a wider, overdue recognition of women behind the desk. Her reputation now rests on a run of records that pair emotional rawness with real sophistication, making her a first call for artists who want feeling left intact.
