Sandcastle

If you took me by the hand
I’d build a sandcastle
Look it’s almost full
But the sea doesn’t still
And though I know it’s just the tides that pull
Do I close or do I spill
See I’m still that girl
Who lost her world
Could you look me in the eyes
And feel the water rise
All this salt between our thighs
And these grains of sand a sign
That I’ll put inside a song for you
Like a pocket full of shells and clues
If you hold it to the light it’s blue
And when I hold you close at night it’s true
