About This Track

Released in November 2020 from Wallen's second studio album 'Dangerous: The Double Album', 'Somebody's Problem' is a co-write with Ernest Keith Smith, Jacob Durrett and Rodney Clawson, produced by Joey Moi. The track builds a familiar country-romance scenario around a woman arriving at a party in a red 4Runner, the narrator already anticipating the complications ahead. Wallen frames the attraction through a catalogue of contradictions: she's the kind of person who represents both someone's best day and worst night, a reason to leave the porch light on whilst knowing the trouble that follows. The chorus hinges on the phrase 'somebody's problem', acknowledging her history of broken hearts and last-call numbers before the narrator volunteers himself as the next in line. The production stays measured, letting the lyric's self-aware fatalism carry the weight without pushing too hard into drama.
