About This Track

'Self' opens Room 25 with Noname's voice pitched low and intimate, as if she's speaking directly to you in the dark. The track moves through a series of conditional statements, each one a small scenario or confession. She raps about late-night drives, broken relationships, abandoned children, and men who diminish her. There's a sharpness to the delivery here that cuts through the soft production, a newfound bite to her lyricism that marks a shift from self-consciousness into self-confidence, even boldness.
