About This Track

'Mars' by Pinkshift is a 2021 rock track from 'Saccharine - EP'. In its lyrics, a speaker addresses someone directly, mixing broken-dream grief with a reckless, intoxicated haze, right down to the imagery of smoke and damaged lungs. The relationship is framed as both seductive and destructive, with the repeated urge to take the other in, and to “leave” for somewhere else, as if escape were a destination rather than a feeling. There is a restless, confrontational tone throughout, sharpened by the litany of rituals and cravings that keep circling back to the same fatal attraction.

"Mars" is a single by Pinkshift, from the album Saccharine - EP, released 1st April 2021. The track is 3:46 long. It's filed under Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 8 articles about Pinkshift.

Lyrics

Mars

To whom should I pay my respects
For broken dreams none the less
You'll light a cigarette or two
To watch my lungs turn black and blue
Cherry vodka, sweet red lips
I would sure love a cherry kiss from you
Inhale that smoke, breathe in those stars
Until we leave for the planet
Leave for the planet Mars
I'm not sure how long you'll last up here
Pretty boy, oh what will we do with you
Tell me what you want from here
And I'll bring it for you
I'll bring it for you
Tell me, tell me
And I'll bring it for you
Tell me, tell me
And I'll bring it for you
In a spaceship we're not too far
It'll only be a moment
Or a couple of years to go to Mars
Who care's when time's gonna stop
Wait a minute I see a shooting star
Make a wish before it disappears
Just a second, it's not that far
I think the stars are closer from up here
(Closer from up here)
I'm not sure how long you'll last up here
Pretty boy, oh what will we do with you
Tell me what you want from here
And I'll bring it for you
I'll bring it for you
I'm not sure how long you'll last up here
Pretty boy, oh what will we do with you
Tell me what you want from here
And I'll bring it for you
I'll bring it for you
Bring it for you
I'll bring it for you
