About This Track

'Half' captures PVRIS at a moment of crystalline emotional precision. The track moves between extremes: some days bring total feeling, others numbness, with no middle ground to be found. That binary tension runs through the song's architecture, which shifts between mountain-sized chants and slick breakdowns, each movement earning its place. The late-80s romance in the production sits alongside a grittier emotional core, creating something that feels both glossy and raw. The lyrics work through a kind of dissociation, a body split between two places that may never meet. There's a refusal embedded in the repetition: "I never never never said that I wanted", a mantra that builds into something almost defiant. The image of half your bones in city streets, the other in sheets, speaks to a fragmentation that the song never quite resolves, and doesn't need to.
