About This Track

Radiohead first performed 'Identikit' during the tour for their eighth album, The King of Limbs, before recording it for A Moon Shaped Pool in 2016. The track opens with a guitar-heavy, rhythmically unsettled introduction before Thom Yorke delivers the song's quivering refrain about broken hearts making it rain. The lyrics trace the aftermath of betrayal and emotional wreckage, Yorke singing of 'sweet-faced ones with nothing left inside' and the refusal to acknowledge manipulation. The repetition of 'I don't want to know' becomes a mantra of self-protection, the song's structure cycling through denial and fragmented imagery until the chorus swells into something close to catharsis.
