About This Track

'Twice' by Romy is a 2023 dance track from the album 'Mid Air'. The lyrics look back on a youthful decision to cast someone aside, then trace the slow return of regret, insomnia and repeated attempts to “get you” out of the mind, even while acknowledging that other lovers are not the same. A key tension hangs over the narrator’s uncertainty about whether the other person ever felt the same. The repeated refrain on memory and fixation gives the song a confessional, self-implicating edge.

"Twice" is a track by Romy, from the album Mid Air, released 7th September 2023. The track is 3:55 long. It's filed under Dance. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 10 articles about Romy.

Lyrics

Twice

When I was younger
I cast you aside
To the arms of another
Now it haunts me at night
Years of trying to get you
Off my brain, off my brain
Never knowing if you felt
The same way, the same way
'Cause I've had other lovers
But they don't have your eyes

Who am I to deny
The shivers running down my spine
And how I'm dying inside
Every time we say goodnight?
And who am I to deny
I throw my hands into the sky?
It's strange enough once in a lifetime
It must be love if it happens twice

Pull back the covers
Let me feel the warmth of your skin
We're still undiscovered
But I feel you sinking in
Still afraid of what you
Mean to me, mean to me
But without you, I am
Incomplete, incomplete

Who am I to deny
The shivers running down my spine
And how I'm dying inside
Every time we say goodnight?
And who am I to deny
I throw my hands into the sky?
It's strange enough once in a lifetime
It must be love if it happens twice

So I'll get it right, I'll get it right
I'll get it right the second time
It must be love if it happens twice
I'll get it right the second time
So I'll get it right, I'll get it right
I'll get it right the second time
It must be love if it happens twice
I'll get it right the second time
So I'll get it right, I'll get it right
I'll get it right the second time
It must be love if it happens twice
I'll get it right the second time
So I'll get it right, I'll get it right
