About This Track

'Firefly' by SCARLXRD is an alternative track from the album 'PENANCE - EP', released in 2025. The lyrics are driven by a hard-edged, self-determining voice, leaning on images of coldness, immunity, and battle-readiness. There is a sense of momentum and defiance, as the speaker pushes past fragility in others and frames their own choices as something to be justified through growth. The repeated image of the firefly, paired with the line “Firefly”, gives the song a stubborn flicker of survival amid pressure, even as it continues with dark comparisons and loneliness.

"Firefly" is a track by SCARLXRD, from the album PENANCE - EP, released 3rd July 2025. The track is 3:24 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below.

Lyrics

Firefly

Go!

From a mind that's cold
Pray my decisions help me grow

Can't get this far you're way too fragile
The shit that kills them I could handle
I grew immune to poison shackles
It's time to win another battle

Firefly
You don't look so bright
Next to me no-one does
Because I've tried so much and traded all my time
Your misery marks the start of your conquest
Pain turns to gold
Ayyy
You're the centre of control

It's getting harder not to fall
Maybe you should stop the running my friend
I ain't picking up a call
I know you hate what you're becoming my guess
Is that you're wishing you were more
Shoulda put work in everyday like I did
I'm so tired of you all
How can you live like this?

Your alliance isn't' brave just bold
If we locked eyes face to face you'd know
I'm fucking 10 feet tall
Still a one man army
I just get back up every time I fall
Not even death can stop me

Why waste time sad
Fill the hole with hurt and never look back
As a child I was the punching bag
But not a soul on earth could hurt me now

From a mind that's cold
Pray my decisions help me grow
Keep me safe
It's time to win another battle

Firefly
You don't look so bright
Next to me no-one does
Because I've tried so much and traded all my time
Your misery marks the start of your conquest
Pain turns to gold
Ayyy
You're the centre of control

It often feels like the same song has been duplicated 24 times.
