About This Track

Shaun Morgan and Amy Lee trade verses over a arrangement that strips back to the essential architecture of loneliness and interdependence. The song pivots on a simple emotional hinge: the feeling of being broken when alone, and the way another person's presence can either mend or amplify that fracture. Lee's voice enters in the second verse with a clarity that contrasts Morgan's rawer delivery, and the two circle each other through the chorus, harmonising on the admission of vulnerability. The remix reshapes the original into something more intimate, letting the vocals sit forward in the mix. There is no grandstanding here, no attempt to inflate the song beyond what its lyrical premise demands. It is a duet about need and absence, built on the principle that sometimes the most direct statement is the most effective one.

"Broken (Remix)" is a track by Seether, from the album Seether: 2002-2013, released 1st March 2004. Full lyrics are available below.

Lyrics

Broken (Remix)

[Verse 1: Shaun Morgan]

I wanted you to know that I love the way you laugh

I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away

I keep your photograph and I know it serves me well

I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

[Chorus: Shaun Morgan & Amy Lee]

Because I'm broken when I'm lonesome

And I don't feel right when you're gone away

[Post-Chorus: Shaun Morgan]

You've gone away

You don't feel me here anymore

[Verse 2: Amy Lee, Amy Lee with Shaun Morgan]

The worst is over now and we can breathe again

I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away

There's so much left to learn and no one left to fight

I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

[Chorus: Shaun Morgan & Amy Lee]

'Cause I’m broken when I’m open

And I don’t feel like I am strong enough

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

And I don't feel right when you're gone away

'Cause I’m broken when I’m open

And I don’t feel like I am strong enough

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

And I don't feel right when you're gone away

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

And I don't feel right when you're gone

[Post-Chorus: Shaun Morgan]

You've gone away

You don't feel me here anymore
