About This Track

'Dunkirk' by Silverbacks is a 2020 Rock track from the album 'Fad'. The lyrics place a wounded, self-reproaching speaker on a private beach in Dunkirk, watching commuters pass while a blunt domestic power dynamic intrudes, as the imagery turns to clipped, obedient movement on tarmac beaches. The chorus of locations and repetition gives it a stuck-in-place claustrophobia, all framed by lines such as “On a private beach in Dunkirk”.

"Dunkirk" is a single by Silverbacks, from the album Fad, released 16th July 2020. The track is 3:09 long. It's filed under Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 4 articles about Silverbacks.

Lyrics

Dunkirk

I hurt my soul, my soul was hurt
On a private beach in Dunkirk
I stared at arse the bikes went by
On a private beach in Dunkirk
My wife clipped me, she clipped me good
I hurt my soul in manhood
Swinging arms, obedient commuters
On the tarmac beaches by Dunkirk
Swinging arms, frustrated commuters
Bashing suits in Dunkirk
A safety pin right through the ear
Forty years of manhood
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Say a Punk Trick from the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Crying infants and high tide
Soldiers lost in Dunkirk
Sunken castles and Advil
Underneath the arches of Dunkirk
My wife clipped me, she clipped me good
I hurt my soul in manhood
Swinging arms, obedient commuters
On the impassioned streets by Dunkirk
Swinging arms, frustrated commuters
Bashing suits in Dunkirk
A safety pin right through the ear
Forty years of manhood
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Say a Punk Trick from the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
Say a Punk Trick from the Book
Every Punk Trick in the Book
And you want it to go somewhere?
And you want it to go somewhere?
And you want it to go somewhere?
