About This Track

'Ceramic Tile' by Sincere Engineer is a 2017 Emo track from the album 'Rhombithian'. The lyrics tumble through a bruised, dizzy bedroom scene, with a speaker describing physical discomfort, a battered smile, and an exhausted start to the day. There is bathroom-set intimacy, made sour by cold surfaces and a sense that the moment has gone wrong, culminating in the line, “For real this”.

Lyrics

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic tile in the bathroom
You make me dizzy on this drunken afternoon
But you're cold against my face
When I lie down on top of you
My broken smile in the bathroom
My mouth is bleeding and this day started too soon
I welcome forehead kisses from the floor
I said, "For real this time, no more,"
Like I usually do
Like I usually do

And now I'm looking at my face
Through toothpaste splatters in the bathroom mirror
I feel like shit and I hope I disappear
And blood cells float around below me in the bathroom sink
So I'm spittin' Sprite and vodka
And I'm wondering why I feel so weak

Ceramic tile in the bathroom
You make me dizzy on this drunken afternoon
But you're cold against my face
When I lie down on top of you
My broken smile in the bathroom
My mouth is bleeding and the sun came up too soon
I welcome forehead kisses from the floor
I said, "For real this time, no more,"
Like I usually do
