About This Track

‘Bleed’ by Slowdive is a 1996 track from the album ‘I Saw the Sun’. The lyrics cast a shifting, sci-fi mood, with a starship receding and a narrator insisting, repeatedly, that they have seen someone “bleed”, alongside images of streets, days, and things being taken, then left behind. The overall impression is of aftermath and displacement, as if perception is collapsing into fragments: starship, street, sight, and loss in quick succession.

"Bleed" is a track by Slowdive, from the album I Saw the Sun, released 15th July 1996. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Slowdive.

Lyrics

Bleed

[Verse 1]

And when the starship falls away

I thought I saw you

It's falling down most everywhere

I thought I saw you bleed

[Verse 2]

I saw the streets today

Took it all and walked away

I saw it all, I saw the day

Takes it all and leaves me

I saw the streets today

Took it all and walked away

I saw it all, I saw the day

Takes it all and leaves me

[Outro]

Wasting life on a misery

I come inside, I just walk away

Wasting life on a misery

I come inside, I just walk away

Wasting life on a misery

I come inside, I just walk away

Wasting life on a misery

I come inside, I just walk away
