About This Track

'Joy' by Slowdive is a track from the album 'I Saw the Sun', released in 1996. The lyrics mix self-losing urgency with a defiant insistence on making things right, pitching the speaker against a violent, ensnaring relationship dynamic. A call to a “brother” arrives alongside imagery of someone dancing across fire, repeated with a falling, down again cadence. The chorus drives the sense of relapse and return, while the verses frame the heartache as something both breaking and stubbornly being repaired.

"Joy" is a track by Slowdive, from the album I Saw the Sun, released 1996. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Slowdive.

Lyrics

Joy

[Verse 1]

Falling down in a violent way

Come on brother, he'll only make you pay

Twisted mind, you break my heart

I'm losing all, but I think I'll make it right

[Chorus]

He's dancing across the fire

Down again

He's Dancing across the fire

Down again

[Verse 2]

Falling down in a violent way

Come on brother, he'll only make you pay

Twisted mind, you break my heart

I'm losing all, but I think I'll make it right

[Chorus]

He's dancing across the fire

Down again

And he's dancing across the fire

Down again

[Bridge]

Watch it all and watch yourself

He feels it all, he feels it all

Hey, you know I watch your stars

I love the way they twist my heart

Feels it all fall apart

I'll lose myself, I've spent it all

Twisted mind, don't break my heart

Dont believe it
