About This Track

'Dreams' finds Solange circling a single idea with patient repetition. The track stresses that dreams arrive only if you have the patience and perseverance to wait for them. She builds the song around a mantra, dreams arriving "a long way, not today", each iteration wearing the phrase down until it becomes almost weightless, a meditation rather than a statement. The production stays minimal, letting her voice and the lyrical refrain dominate. In the outro she sketches brief, vivid scenarios: driving in slow motion, climbing high, the sensation of falling, the fear of dying. These fragments sit alongside the insistence that she has her dreams and her eyes wide open, a small act of defiance against the waiting.
