The song's emotional weight sits in its restraint: pressure and feeling accumulate quietly rather than explode. The track features vocals from Nigerian singers Oxlade, Äyanna, and Teni, with additional writing from Tems. Their voices soften the edges further, creating moments of call-and-response that feel less like rap convention and more like genuine conversation. Stormzy's verses grow more tender as the song progresses, moving from the fractured logic of heartbreak into something closer to devotion, a man trying to convince himself and his partner that what they've built is worth the work of repair.
