About This Track
A Dork five-star record, 'SOS' finds SZA moving from cult R&B favourite to mainstream pop superstar on her own terms. The album traverses poised slow jams and unexpected punk-pop turns with a dynamism few contemporary artists possess, laying out messy emotional truths that make the work hugely relatable. 'Snooze' sits amongst the album's 23 tracks as a love song built on devotion and longing, SZA trying to be with someone she loves so much that missing the moment feels impossible.
The first demo came from producer Blair Ferguson in late 2021, whilst he was staying the winter in Glasgow at his aunt's attic. Before it became part of 'SOS', the song was planned as a duet between SZA and Babyface for the latter's ninth studio album. Released as the album's sixth single in April 2023, it became the only song to remain on the Billboard Hot 100 chart throughout the year.
SZA adopts the voice of someone willing to cross any line for their partner, the bridge longing to be loved and be their number one. The chorus refrain asks how you can snooze and miss the moment when someone is just too important, a sentiment that captures the urgent, vital emotional quality running through the entire album.
"Snooze" is a track by SZA, from the album SOS, released 9th December 2022. The track is 3:22 long. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about SZA.

'Middle of Nowhere' arrives on 1st May through Lost Highway Records.

There’s a pop dungeon where artists live, sometimes for years, where they say, “it’s coming!” about an album that’s in the works (ahem, Rihanna, ahem, Sky Ferreira). SZA did a stint down there after releasing her cult and critical fave debut ‘Ctrl’ in 2017.
A great leap forward from now indisputable pop superstar.

The clip follows SZA as she exacts her revenge on her ex-boyfriend.

A 20 second clip appears to be heavily influenced by the Quentin Tarantino film of the same name.
